Sitting already
This girl can't wait to get a move on. She is *this* close to being able to sit up and is much more squirmy on her belly... getting up on all fours and wiggling about. Hopefully she stays mostly immobile for a while longer, it's so much easier that way :)
You'll have to excuse her amazing post nap hair-do, she's been getting super sweaty post sleep lately. On a side note, does this outfit make her look like a boy? I feel like I need to strap a bow to her head if I take her out like this..

Idaho Visit
We have been having such a great time visiting family up in Idaho. We came up last week, and the flight went really well, baby girl had a bit of trouble with the altitude changes, but for the most part was a champ. Thankfully, AJ was able to come with us so the first flight was less of an ordeal ... we'll see how things work out going back by myself next week! We loved being able to see family for Easter and enjoyed the delicious feast as well (of course I forgot my camera ... boo)
Even though it is April, true to form, we've had all sorts of weather fluctuations from blizzards, rain and sunshine. We were so lucky to have our family from Boise come and see us as well. First my aunt and cousin came to visit - hopefully she has pictures on her camera because I am awful at taking photos!! They brought the cutest little onesies and hair bows (which I am sure her dad will **LOVE**, maybe not, but I've already been putting them on her and they are DARLING!!). My aunt also made her the most adorable little booties and owl hat - I had her in it yesterday and got so many comments on how cute it was!! I mean seriously, check it out:
Our next visitors were my grandparents, they also drove up from Boise and baby girl was loving the attention and my grandpa especially was able to make her laugh (which seems to be a theme as my Dad and Uncle are also able to make her just smile... much to the angst of my mother):
While my grandparents were here we tried to get a four generations shot ... it was a bit of a struggle though, and this was the best attempt:
All in all we have been having a great time here, and baby girl is being spoiled rotten. Her uncle just loves her and is constantly trying to get her to walk, she is going to be so bored when we go back to Houston next week and will expect me to constantly play with her I am sure :)

Babies and Bluebonnets
So it is Bluebonnet season down in Texas, and for some reason I got it in my head that I wanted to (needed to really) get pictures of the bean with the bluebonnets. This proved to be easier said than done however. First I tried to sit her in her bumbo and get some great shots... this may have worked if she was able to sit up for longer than 2 seconds before getting tired... I also kept seeing bees and was getting bit by fire ants so attempt one was a bit of a bust.
Que attempt two. For our second round I enlisted the help of a dear friend who lent me multiple baskets and trays to lay the bean in in the middle of the flowers so she could lay down and we could get a picture of her smiling back at us. Sadly, this too was another failure as it was so bright and hot that instead of smiling as she usually does, she was squinting and practically falling asleep.
With one last ditch effort, I held the bub and we tried to get a decent shot that way. They are my favorite from all three failed attempts, baby girl is still mostly squinting and not really smiling in any of the pictures, but it's one of the few pictures I even have with her at all, so I am glad on that level.

Thank you to the hub for putting up with / and photographing all three attempts, I really am a lucky girl.
** I'm sure he can't wait until next year rolls around :) at least then she will be standing / sitting / etc.
Hospital visitor
Yesterday we went to visit a friend who just had a darling little boy, he was so sweet and seemed so small (though he tipped the scales at 9 lb 1 oz so comparably he is big I guess...), It made me remember how tiny baby girl was when we first brought her home over 4 months ago. Due to security, she actually had to have a visitors badge. Isn't she the cutest visitor you've ever seen?
Let the solid food begin...
So after baby girls 4 month check up, her Dr. said we could go ahead and start her on solid foods starting with rice cereal, then trying a few other grains, and then start introducing other foods, one at a time a few days apart, to make sure she doesn't have any reactions. The first time we fed her, it was VERY watered down, to eat any of it, she practically had to suck it off the spoon. They have you make it so watery though to make sure they figure out how to swallow.
All I can say about her eating solids, is its a good thing she is not surviving that way, as she is still not the biggest fan. She is fine with swallowing, she just hasn't really gotten the idea that she needs to open her mouth first. I'm pretty sure the only reason she ate any for the first few days was due to sheer luck in getting it in her mouth when she wasn't paying attention.
She wasn't quite as calm for her second meal :)
Or her subsequent meals for that matter :(
Today for the first time, I think she actually deliberately opened her mouth *a little* to get a bite. She still gave me the stink face when she tasted it though, if she dislikes bland ole' rice, I can't wait to give her peas.
